Words that end in -er

Hi boys and girls!

Our spelling list this week is helping us practice the /ur/ sound at the end of a word.   It is spelled with “er”, even though it sometimes sounds like “ur.”

Here’s a link for the spelling city activities.  Once you do one activity, make a comment by writing a sentence with one of the spelling words.

Here is an example:   A bagel is missing its center because there is a hole.

Grammar Time

Hi kiddos!

We’re going to watch a BrainPop Jr. video about nouns and verbs. When you finish the video, take the quiz and then write an example and a non-example of subject and verb agreement in the comments.

Here is my example:

Example: Benjamin yells at the soccer game.

Non-example:  Benjamin yell at the soccer game.

Remember how to use the copy and paste function?  nationalsd

Oh! We’re upside down!

Hi boys and girls.

I added in a picture from our trip, but we are upside down.  I’ll have to fix it soon, but I wanted you to see the picture sooner than I could fix it.

Next week, we are going to be starting to learn about money.  For this week, we have been practicing our place value.  Here is a video about place value. Also, these two videos tell you about comparing numbers (which is greater or lesser) and evens and odds.

If you want a game to practice your place value, click here. (easy in the place value puzzler section is probably best) Also, you can practice those skills on ixl, by choosing any of the “M” skills.

Non-Fiction

Hi guys and gals!

We’re going to be working on a non-fiction webquest!  What on earth is a webquest, huh?  Here it is. This is when we read, research, listen to, and watch different information on the Internet to answer questions about a certain topic.

Our topic for today is non-fiction and also ants. We’ll work together using our laptops to find the answers and learn more about our topic.  We will finish by this Friday.  Happy hunting!

Here is the video, the username is: nationalsd

The diagram is here. Finally, the reading is here.

M.A.R.E.

Hi boys and girls!

We’re going to be starting M.A.R.E. very soon.  In second grade we study the sandy beach.  I bet you’ve been to the beach before, huh?  I have an activity for us to do.  It’s right here.

The first few questions can be answered using this website.  For the other two questions, you’ll have to watch this video.  When you go to the link, type in “Lunch Tide” in the search box on the right. Your video will come right up.

Have fun!
